mac. brand spaces makes warehouse work easier with exoskeletons
mac. brand spaces, the live communication specialist, is sending out another strong signal in favour of the health and safety of its employees: it has invested in three state-of-the-art exoskeletons. The technology, which is already established in medicine, is increasingly being used in the industrial sector and is now also supporting mac day-to-day work. ‘Employee health is a central concern of our workplace design. By investing in exoskeletons, we are taking a further step towards modern and safe workplaces, in this case in the warehouse, in order to reduce back strain,’ says Stefan Trieb, CEO of mac. brand spaces.
Exoskeletons are portable external frames that mechanically support the muscles and relieve the musculoskeletal system during physically demanding activities. Equipped with motors and sensors, they support their users when lifting, carrying and bending by providing a lifting and holding force of up to 36 kilograms. An intelligent control system enables the user to switch between bending, lifting and walking, and the support can be customised.
‘By introducing the exoskeletons, we not only want to reduce the physical strain on our employees, but also prevent long-term health problems such as musculoskeletal disorders,’ explains Melanie Hagedorn, Director Logistics at mac. brand spaces. ‘The exoskeletons improve posture and reduce fatigue during demanding tasks such as loading and unloading, carrying or walking.’
The exoskeletons are currently being used in the system material warehouse. Thanks to the fast and professional cooperation of colleagues and the training of two internal trainers by German Bionic, the introduction of the devices was realised quickly. After just a short time, employees commented positively: ‘My back feels much better than usual’ and ‘I didn’t expect that.’ Employees feel ‘a completely different feeling at work’ thanks to the support and are certain: ‘It will make things work better.’
